'VAT and Property' - A CPD course for Solicitors

James Cowper is an accredited provider of CPD training for the Law Society.
As such, we have recently developed an intermediate level course on VAT & property,
which has been taylor made for solicitors.
We will run the course at your premises and at a time and date convenient
to you or, alternatively, you are welcome to come to us. We can provide
all the necessary facilities within our training room, which is located
in our Reading office in Berkshire, England.
Course aims and objectives

It is aimed at solicitors with a basic working knowledge of VAT.
- The course will provide consolidation of basic VAT principles relevant
to solicitors and will introduce some more advanced concepts.
- The course will provide an overview of the subject as outlined in the
programme below.
- On completion, the participants should have greater confidence in dealing with the VAT issues in their everyday work, and a firmer grasp of their application to property transactions.
Course content
The course be illustrated with a variety of examples drawn from real
cases and will cover the following:
- Building works
- Property sales
- Landlord and tenant
- VAT recovery
- Option to tax
- TOGC
CPD points
The course runs for approximately 3 hours.
Speaker details
Your speaker will be James Cowper’s VAT Director, Terry Dockley.
Terry is a Chartered Tax Adviser (Fellow) and has been a VAT adviser
for over 17 years.
