James Cowper help Wexas travel club explore new horizons

Thames Valley accountants and business advisers James Cowper has acted for Wexas (www.wexas.com), the UKs leading leisure travel club, in its acquisition of BJB Travel, a specialist travel management company, and its sister tour operating business, Best Served Holidays.  The acquisitions were completed on 8 January.

Knightsbridge-based Wexas boasts 25,000 members subscribing to its travel club, offering tailor-made travel services and publications, together with two additional companies; White Star Cruises, an upmarket cruise company, and Wexas Travel Management.  The acquisition of Best Served Holidays adds a specialist Scandinavian tour operator and travel management expertise in the marine and offshore market through BJB Travel.

The James Cowper team was led by Corporate Finance partner Stewart Lambert, who said: “James Cowper has a strong track record in the travel and tourism market.  It has been a delight to be able to complete this transaction in what has been an undoubtedly difficult market for the travel industry.  We look forward to working with Wexas in the future.”

Steve Allen, managing director of Wexas adds: “BJB Travel and Best Served Holidays are an extremely good fit with our existing businesses and we look forward to developing and growing them further through 2010 and beyond.  We expect 2010 to be a challenging market but we are also confident that it will present plenty of opportunity”

The terms of the acquisition, which has been funded by Wexas, remain confidential.
