Accountants James Cowper shortlisted twice in British Accountancy Awards

Thames Valley/Southampton accountants and business advisers James Cowper have been shortlisted for two awards in the prestigious annual British Accountancy Awards.

The firm has been nominated for the ‘Mid Tier Accountancy Firm of the Year’ and ‘Tax Award of the Year"’.

Steve Clarke, Managing Partner at James Cowper said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted in these two categories.  Both are hard fought and include firms from across the UK.

“I am particularly delighted to see Chris Lee and his work with Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS) recognised.  James Cowper has a real strength in this kind of work, acting for businesses as diverse as bloodstock, private schools, nuclear fusion and oil wells in Texas, USA.

“These awards are recognition for all of the hard work and effort everyone at James Cowper has put into ensuring the firm is the first choice for businesses and individuals needing top quality advice.”

EIS is a valuable tax relief for investors, and to be able to offer EIS relief gives a business a competitive edge in securing equity funding.

Chris Lee, Partner and business tax specialist at James Cowper, said: “Outside the large national firms there is a lack of general awareness of the opportunities offered by EIS, and particularly in relation to EIS investment funds, and of the particular complexities of the legislation.  We have a strong track record for this kind of work, and it is encouraging to have it recognised.”

The nominations follow James Cowper’s VAT manager, Ruth Corkin, being shortlisted in the ‘Rising Star’ category of the Indirect Tax Awards in September.
