Better Flower Company fails to bloom
Thames Valley and South Coast accountants and business advisers James Cowper has been appointed to undertake the liquidation of the Better Flower Company Limited after it failed with debts of £1.3m. The Better Flower Company which was established in 2007 and imported ethically sourced flowers for distribution to European supermarkets, such as Waitrose.
The Better Flower Company Limited, which was based in Hounslow, decided last month that it should cease trading and commenced the steps to liquidate. Sandra Mundy and Peter Whalley were appointed liquidators at meetings of the shareholders and creditors on Wednesday 9 February 2011.
Sandra Mundy, a partner in James Cowper, said: “The directors attribute the Company’s failure to delays in customers’ product sourcing decisions, increases in freight charges, supply chain problems and high labour costs in the UK.”
